Familiar MM hero from the league close to a controversial transfer
The sensational goalkeeper Henrik Haukeland, who secured bronze for Norway in the spring World Championships, is making a questionable decision regarding his club for the next season.
According to Czech journalist Vojtech Tuman, the 31-year-old Haukeland has signed a two-year contract with Traktor Chelyabinsk, which plays in the KHL. Haukeland, who has been stopping pucks in the DEL league in Germany for five seasons, has a valid contract with Straubing for the next season.
Haukeland was one of the biggest heroes of the spring World Championships held in Switzerland. He saved for Norway in eight matches with a save percentage of 93.8 and an average of 1.74 goals allowed, playing a significant role in Norway capturing its first World Championship medal.
Haukeland is also remembered in Finland for two Liiga seasons, during which he stopped pucks with over 91 percent accuracy first for TPS and then for KooKoo from 2018 to 2020.
