Expressen: Lassi Lehtinen changing scenery!
Finnish goalkeeper Lassi Lehtinen will not continue with HV71 next season, even though he has a contract with the Swedish club for the upcoming season. According to Expressen, HV71 has given Lehtinen permission to look for a new club, as the team’s plan is to play other goalkeepers.
According to Expressen, Lehtinen does not want to return to Finland yet, as his first option is to continue his career elsewhere in Europe.
HV71 currently has contracts with as many as four goalkeepers for next season. In addition to Lehtinen, they are Herman Liv, Olof Glifford, and Hugo Alnefelt. Additionally, the club is also making a contract extension with Felix Sandström.
Liv, Glifford, and Sandström are part of HV71’s plans. According to Expressen, Alnefelt, who spent this season on loan at HIFK, will not play for HV71 next season either.
Lehtinen, 27, played 22 games for HV71 this season with a save percentage of 86.8. He has played three seasons in the SHL, two of which were with MoDo Hockey.
In the Liiga, Lehtinen has represented Lukko and TPS. He helped Lukko become the Finnish champion in the spring of 2021.
In recent years, Lehtinen has also been seen with the Lions. He was part of the team for the 2024 World Championships.
