Goaltender prospect Eemil Vinni, 20, continues his career in North America. The long-time HIFK goalkeeper has signed a one-year contract with the AHL team Bakersfield Condors.
Vinni has had high expectations placed on him for a long time, as the young player was drafted into the NHL as the first European goaltender in the 2024 NHL Draft. The Edmonton Oilers selected Vinni in the second round with the 64th pick.
Having played three Liiga games with HIFK, Vinni represented Joensuun Kiekko-Pojat and Imatran Ketterä in the Mestis league last season.
Vinni’s two-way AHL contract allows the goaltender to be sent to the ECHL, known as the “farm’s farm.”
