A veteran of three Stanley Cups decided to end his career – now he is being tempted back to the NHL!
Marc-André Fleury, 40, who has won three Stanley Cups in his career and was once named the NHL’s best goaltender, decided to end his playing career after last season.
Allan Walsh, who acted as Fleury’s agent, revealed to SDPN that after the NHL free agent market opened, there have been attempts to lure Fleury out of retirement and back to the NHL. Walsh says that five teams have contacted Fleury and offered him a one-year contract.
The NHL goaltender market is quite dry this summer. Therefore, teams have also turned to Fleury and hoped for his return next season. According to Walsh, Fleury is currently of the opinion that he will not play next season.
During his NHL career, Fleury played 1,052 regular-season games and 170 playoff games representing the Pittsburgh Penguins, Vegas Golden Knights, Chicago Blackhawks, and most recently the Minnesota Wild. He also represented Canada in the past spring’s IIHF World Championship.
