Ville Peltonen compares Switzerland and the League for HS – here is the biggest difference: “At a fantastic level”
The head coach of Geneve-Servette, promoted during the season, Ville Peltonen, is coaching his first season in the cuckoo clock country.
The lion legend, who spent three seasons in Switzerland during his playing career, praises the National League, regarded as the toughest hockey league in Europe, which has developed significantly since his own playing days.
– This is a high-quality league. Much more balanced compared to when I played here. The foreign players are better and there are more of them. This has also benefited the development of Swiss players, Peltonen compares in an interview with Helsingin Sanomat.
Especially in terms of atmosphere, the Swiss league is in a league of its own compared to the domestic Liiga, for example.
– The emotional charge during the games is at a fantastic level. That is the biggest difference to Finland. It also measures how well the team stays together.
However, there is one thing Peltonen would bring from Finland to the Swiss league.
– Player commitment is extremely important. In Finland, player commitment comes a bit more naturally than in Switzerland, Peltonen sees.
