The Young Lions won their opening match of the U20 World Championships against Denmark with a score of 6-2.

The team’s head coach Lauri Mikkola found aspects of Finland’s performance that they want to carry into the next games. Naturally, there is also room for improvement.

– Of course, we want that number of goals in the next game as well. We want some balance between offense and defense. At times we played with a very good rhythm and got results, and at times it turned into a bit of casual play when there was so much space and time, Mikkola told SuomiKiekko.

The Young Lions’ lineup was missing forward Julius Miettinen and defenseman Juho Piiparinen from the Denmark match. Mikkola commented briefly on whether the duo will play in the next match.

– Time will tell. Possibly.

The Young Lions will next face Latvia.
