The playoff pairs of the CHL are clear: Ilves made history, KalPa faces a star-studded team
The group stage of the Champions Hockey League is now over and the playoff matchups are set.
As the first team in history to win the group stage with a clean record, Ilves will face the German team Bremerhaven in the first round of the CHL playoffs.
Arguably the most interesting matchup is between the reigning champions of Finland and Switzerland, KalPa and the Zürich Lions. KalPa finished second in the group stage of 24 teams, right behind Ilves. The Swiss team, on the other hand, advanced to the playoffs as the second-to-last team in 15th place.
Lukko, which finished fifth in the group stage, will face the Norwegian team Storhamar.
The first playoff games will be played on November 11-12, with the second round a week later. The tournament winner will be determined in the final on March 3.
