In the Saturday day match of the Milano-Cortina Olympic tournament, a huge sensation was witnessed as Slovakia clinched the group victory over Sweden in Group B with a last-minute 3-5 goal.

A three-goal victory would have guaranteed the Swedes the group win and a direct spot in the quarter-finals. Dalibor Dvorsky’s power-play goal just 39 seconds before the end of regular time meant that Slovakia wins the group and advances directly to the top eight.

The goal was preceded by a silly slashing penalty by Sweden’s superstar Lukas Raymond, which ultimately sealed Tre Kronor’s fate.

For Sweden, the loss meant that if Finland, playing in the same group, wins its Saturday match against Italy, the Lions will surpass Sweden to become the group runner-up.

The group decider between Finland and Jukka Jalonen‘s Italy starts at 17:40.
