A frightening situation was witnessed in the match between the United States and Switzerland at the U20 World Championships.
American super prospect and star defender Cole Hutson was injured after being hit in the head by the puck. The shot from Swiss defender Gian Meier struck Hutson’s head so unexpectedly that he didn’t see the puck coming.
Hutson was injured in the incident and lay on the ice. He had to be carried off the ice on a stretcher and taken to the hospital. Reporter Jon Morosi stated on X that Hutson was conscious when he was taken to the hospital.
The United States later shared on X reassuring news about Hutson’s condition. He has been released from the hospital and has returned to his team. Hutson’s situation is being evaluated day by day.
Hutson has recorded 0+2 points in two tournament games. He was also part of last year’s U.S. championship team, scoring strong stats of 3+8=11 in seven games. Hutson is a 2nd round draft pick (#43) of the Washington Capitals from 2024.
