SaiPa has signed a one-year contract with Swedish forward Einar Emanuelsson.

Emanuelsson, 29, has represented the SHL team Luleå for almost his entire career. This season he also played on loan in Switzerland with HC Lugano. Emanuelsson played 19 games for Luleå this season with stats of 0+2 and 22 regular season games for Lugano with points of 6+3, as well as four playoff games with stats of 1+0.

The experienced Emanuelsson has played 453 regular season games in the SHL for Luleå (71+72=143) and 73 playoff games (8+8=16). He made his SHL debut in the 2014-15 season. A year ago, Emanuelsson won the SHL championship with Luleå.

– Einar is a very mobile forward who fits well into our playing style. He will certainly bring a lot of skill and experience to the team, commented sports director Harri Aho in SaiPa’s press release.

– I am looking forward to meeting the team, the fans, and starting a new challenge, Emanuelsson says.

Emanuelsson’s older brother is Petter Emanuelsson, who has played in the Liiga for four seasons. He has represented Kärpät for two seasons and KooKoo for two seasons.
