Mikael Granlund‘s NHL season ended when the Anaheim Ducks lost the decisive playoff game to the Vegas Golden Knights 1–5. Vegas won the series 4–2 and advanced to the Western Conference Finals.

Granlund scored the only goal for Anaheim in the game. He narrowed the score to 1–3 in the second period, but the Ducks could not challenge Vegas anymore.

Granlund’s season ending is certainly of interest to the Finnish national team for the World Championships. The Lions still have three tournament passes unused, so NHL reinforcements can still be added during the tournament.

– We are currently monitoring the situation in the NHL playoffs, and that is why not all passes have been stamped yet, Finland’s GM Jere Lehtinen commented on the situation on Thursday.

Granlund has been a trusted player for the Lions in major tournaments in recent years. He has played in the World Championships twice in the last three years and has also represented Finland in an international four-nation tournament and the Milan Olympics.

In the NHL playoffs, Granlund collected a total of 10 points (5+5) in 12 games.
