The Lions are getting their own stamp. Posti is releasing a stamp in honor of the Lions’ world championship, with the first batch going on sale today, Wednesday, June 17, in Posti’s online store. The stamps will be available at retail points in July.

The image on the stamp shows the Lions celebrating their world championship. The winning goal of the World Championship final was scored by Konsta Helenius, who is celebrating the just-scored decisive goal surrounded by his teammates.

– The Lions’ success in the World Championship was joyful news for Finns. The genuine joy of the players after scoring the winning goal is also conveyed in the photograph of the stamp. We want to celebrate the Lions’ achievement with this stamp and at the same time honor the long-term work that is behind this success, says Posti’s director responsible for domestic letter services Sami Määttä in a statement.

Hockey-themed stamps have been made before, for example, featuring Mikael Granlund‘s goal in 2011.

– The stamp is a great honor for the entire team. It is also wonderful that the world championship can bring joy to Finns for a long time, says the GM of the national team Jere Lehtinen.
