The Chicago Blackhawks have made a bold move for the future by signing an NHL entry-level contract with Russian forward Roman Kantserov, 21.
Metallurg Magnitogorsk confirmed on Friday that they had terminated the forward’s contract, which opens the door for Kantserov to the NHL after three seasons in the KHL.
The Blackhawks drafted the Russian prospect in the second round in the summer of 2023. Since then, the forward’s stock has skyrocketed. The playstyle of the artist known for his silky hands has even been compared to the legendary Pavel Datsyuk.
Kantserov had an impressive season in the KHL. In 63 regular-season games, he recorded 36+28=64 points. Kantserov won the KHL goal-scoring title.
