Kari Jalonen‘s season with the Kölner Haie in the German DEL league came to an end on Monday when the team was eliminated in the semifinals. At the same time, Jalonen’s tenure as head coach in Cologne ended.

Cologne won the regular season and faced the sixth-placed Eisbären Berlin in the semifinals. The sixth semifinal match on Monday ended with a 4-1 victory for Eisbären, giving them a series win of 4-2.

Jalonen coached Cologne for two seasons. Last season, he led the team to a silver medal. At that time, Cologne also lost in the finals to Eisbären Berlin.

For the next season, Jalonen is reportedly moving to the Liiga as the head coach of Tappara.
