Jussi Ahokas: top performance!
Jussi Ahokas has led the Kitchener Rangers to the finals of the Canadian junior league OHL. Kitchener defeated the Windsor Spitfires in the conference finals with a series score of 4-1.
The decisive fifth game of the series ended with Kitchener winning 5-4 in overtime. The winning goal was scored by Dylan Edwards.
Kitchener has previously won the OHL championship four times, in 1981, 1982, 2003, and 2008. Now the team is aiming for its first championship in 18 years under Ahokas’ leadership.
Ahokas is currently coaching the team in his third season. Last season, the team fell in the conference finals, and two years ago, their journey ended in the second round of the playoffs, so Ahokas’ development trajectory at the helm of the team has been upward.
In the finals, the Kitchener Rangers will face either the Brantford Bulldogs or the Barrie Colts. The conference final series between the teams is currently 3-2 in favor of Brantford.
