HIFK fans make a strong decision – Jokerit home games boycotted!
The supporter groups of HIFK, Stadin Kingit, HIFK Fan Club, Inferno, and Folket announce on Instagram that they intend to boycott the local match against Jokerit on October 8 at Veikkaus Arena. The supporter groups urge every HIFK fan to boycott away derbies.
There are several reasons for the boycott. The update states that Jokerit has announced it will offer HIFK supporters a quota of 200 tickets for local matches, which can be stretched to a maximum of 350 tickets. Veikkaus Arena has a capacity of 13,349 spectators.
– This is 1.1 – 2.6% of the arena’s audience capacity, and there will be no further concessions. At the same time, we know that a relatively large rural supporter group has been offered a quota of 1,100 tickets. Thus, the possibility for IFK supporters to form a unified and active section in the stands for the derby becomes impossible, the statement notes.
Additionally, the statement from HIFK’s fan groups highlights the ticket prices for away supporters. A ticket for the match between Jokerit and HIFK costs away spectators 75 euros.
– The Narrit club intends to turn the Stadin derby into a money-making machine. “Someone will buy them anyway”? Disgusting.
HIFK supporters also state that if their own club acts like Jokerit regarding ticket pricing or ticket quotas, they intend to boycott their home matches against Jokerit as well.
HIFK’s supporter groups plan to organize a protest march on October 8 and then watch the local match together. The intention is to set up a viewing studio at Nordiks in collaboration with HIFK’s office.
Jokerit returns to the league this coming season after a 12-year break. Jokerit and HIFK last faced each other in 2014.
