Great sorrow: NHL’s long-time star forward has died
Canadian hockey legend Dennis Hull has died at the age of 81. His long-time team, the Chicago Blackhawks, reported the news.
Hull was one of the most recognized forwards in the NHL during the 1960s and 1970s. He primarily represented the Chicago Blackhawks, where he played for 13 seasons from 1964 to 1977. He spent his final season with the Detroit Red Wings.
With the Blackhawks, Hull established himself as an effective goal scorer and a versatile two-way forward. He broke the 30-goal mark several times during his career and accumulated over 300 goals and 650 points in his NHL career. He was selected to the NHL All-Star Game five times.
Hull became particularly famous in the 1960s and 1970s for forming a forward duo with his brother Bobby Hull. The brothers were long-time stars of the Chicago Blackhawks and one of the most recognized sibling pairs in the NHL. Bobby Hull passed away in 2023.
From Point Anne, Ontario, Dennis played junior hockey in St. Catharine’s from 1960 to 1964, before making the jump to the NHL with the Chicago Black Hawks.
