Familiar promise from Tappara set aside – entered NHL’s treatment program
St. Louis Blues forward prospect Adam Jecho, 20, will miss the team’s training camp. The Czech forward has enrolled in the NHL and NHL Players’ Association joint care program, and there is currently no information on his return timeline.
Jecho may be a familiar name to Finnish hockey followers. The two-meter tall forward played in Tappara’s junior organization from 2021 to 2023 and had a strong performance in the U18 SM series during the 2022–23 season. Jecho recorded 21 goals and 26 assists for a total of 47 points in 37 games.
St. Louis drafted Jecho in the third round of the 2024 NHL Draft.
Last season, the forward spent time in the Canadian junior league WHL with the Edmonton Oil Kings, where he scored 10 goals and 26 assists for a total of 36 points in 47 regular season games.
In the upcoming season, he is expected to join the AHL team Springfield Thunderbirds.
The NHL care program is designed for players who need support with issues related to mental health, substance use, or other personal challenges.
Among the Finnish players, Patrik Laine has previously participated in the program, having stepped away from the Columbus Blue Jackets’ activities to seek help in 2024.
