Departure has come – a player familiar from TPS enters the free market
Last season, Linus Nässén, who played for TPS, is once again on the open market.
Frölunda confirmed that the short contract of the 26-year-old Swede will not be extended. Nässén returned to Frölunda last summer from TPS, but the contract was originally made only for the opening week of the SHL season. Frölunda has now announced that there will be no continuation.
The decision is related to the team’s roster situation.
– Graeme (Clarke) is part of the team and Max Lindholm and Erik Thorell are returning, so we have come to this decision. We thank Linus for this time and wish him all the best in his future career, Frölunda’s sports director Fredrik Sjöström says in the club’s statement.
Nässén moved to TPS last season from Frölunda. He had played for the Gothenburg club for five seasons before moving to Turku.
In the TPS jersey, Nässén appeared in 17 Liiga matches last season. The defender’s stats remained at three assists.
From a Finnish perspective, there is an interesting opportunity in this situation. Nässén is already familiar with Liiga and TPS, so a return to Finland could be one option if a suitable offer is not found elsewhere.
