The semifinal match between Switzerland and Sweden at the World Championships had a dramatic start.
Sweden scored the opening goal just six minutes into the game. The goal was made by Linus Karlsson.
Just moments later, Swiss defender Dean Kukan was sent off. He hit Sweden’s super prospect Ivar Stenberg in the face with his stick. The decision was ultimately a ejection, with the game having been played for just under seven minutes.
Sweden had a five-minute power play and scored once, but after a video review, Oskar Sundqvist’s goal was disallowed as a kicking goal.
Switzerland eventually survived their long penalty kill and equalized the game with a goal from star defender Roman Josy.
The score is 1-1 after the first period.
