Claude Giroux signs a new NHL contract – here are the details
Free agent Claude Giroux continues his career with the Ottawa Senators. The details of the extension agreement between the parties are now known.
Giroux has signed a one-year extension with the Senators worth two million dollars. The contract also includes three million dollars in bonuses, so Giroux’s earnings could rise to a total of five million dollars.
Of the three million dollars in bonuses, Giroux will receive 1.5 million dollars if he plays ten games, 500,000 dollars if he plays 40 games, 500,000 dollars if the Senators advance to the conference finals, and 500,000 dollars if the team reaches the Stanley Cup finals.
Giroux, 38, has represented the Senators for four seasons. Last season, he scored 49 points in 82 games with a record of 14+35.
Last week, there were rumors that Giroux would return to his longtime team, the Philadelphia Flyers, but the man’s career will continue in Ottawa after all.
