Carolina’s master pack: transfer request!
The Russian defender Aleksandr Nikishin, who celebrated the Stanley Cup victory with the Carolina Hurricanes, has submitted a trade request since the end of last season. The information is reported by journalist Pierre LeBrun.
LeBrun adds that Nikishin’s trade request is still valid.
Nikishin, 24, is still a restricted free agent without a contract. His potential trade has been speculated throughout the summer, as he is said to be aiming for a salary close to ten million dollars per year, which Carolina currently cannot afford. At least the Nashville Predators are reported to be interested in Nikishin.
Nikishin has just completed his first NHL season. He recorded 33 points in 81 regular-season games with 11 goals and 22 assists. In the playoffs, Nikishin registered one assist in 17 games.
