Atro Leppänen signed a new NHL contract!
Edmonton Oilers announces that they have signed a one-year extension with Finnish defenseman Atro Leppänen. The contract, covering the 2026-27 season, is two-way and is valued at 850,000 dollars at the NHL level and 360,000 dollars at the AHL level.
Leppänen, 27, is playing his first season in the Edmonton organization. He has recorded 20 points (3+17) in 28 games with AHL team Bakersfield Condors this season. Leppänen has yet to make his NHL debut.
Last season, Leppänen played at an impressive level with Sport. He broke the league’s record for points by a defenseman in a single season, achieving 63 points (21+42) in 60 games. Leppänen also won the league’s scoring title and was awarded the league’s Most Valuable Player.
Leppänen represented the Lions in last spring’s World Championships, where he recorded 2 points (0+2) in eight games.
