Washington Capitals’ Russian superstar Aleksander Ovetshkin has run into trouble in his home country.
The Russian Match TV reports that the Russian tax authority has frozen Ovetshkin’s bank accounts due to unfiled tax returns. The channel claims that Ovetshkin has not filed a tax return in his home country since 2023.
– There is no problem and no debt has been left, but the accountant has not filed the return on time, a source close to Ovetshkin revealed to Match TV.
The news agency RIA Novosti, on the other hand, reports that Ovetshkin’s bank accounts were frozen on Tuesday due to delays observed at the end of July. The NHL star has registered five companies in Russia since 2022.
