Who is the Lions' master of ceremonies? A surprise answer from Juuse Saros!

The Lions have gradually settled into the Olympic Village in Milan.

On Tuesday, the team held their third practice, and on Wednesday, the first match of the Olympics awaits.

After Tuesday’s practice, the Lions’ goalkeeper Juuse Saros answered questions.

– It’s been nice to be here for a couple of days, a few practices, Saros said.

There hasn’t been much extra time yet.

– Some, but these couple of days have been quite tight. Practices and meetings.

Saros was asked who the team’s master of ceremonies is. At that point, the goalkeeper gave quite a surprising answer.

– [Kaapo] Kakko is at least one, he’s always talking, Saros said.

By default, Saros is the Lions’ number one goalkeeper in the tournament. The goalkeeper trio changed again before the tournament when Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen got injured. He was replaced by Joonas Korpisalo.

– Of course, it’s a disappointing injury for Upi, but Korppari is a familiar guy from a long time, a good dude, brings energy.

Saros’s season in the Nashville Predators organization has been variable. Nashville’s situation as a team is somewhat chaotic since GM Barry Trotz decided to leave. Trotz will serve as GM until a successor is found.

– We have stayed in the playoff race. Of course, there have been a lot of changes. Among the players, we have tried to focus on what happens on the ice, Saros said.

The problem is that Trotz may not have the power or desire to make decisions that affect the team’s future at the moment. In that sense, the players’ contracts are shrouded in uncertainty.

– They are a bit of question marks now. We don’t know much more.

However, Saros spoke frankly about his own contract, which is protected by a no-trade clause. SuomiKiekko directly asked Saros if he has any desire to leave the team.

– It hasn’t been that way. I would like to be part of turning things around, I’ve enjoyed being there.

Finland will play its opening match against Slovakia on Wednesday at 17:40 Finnish time.
