Ville Peltonen joins the Lions!
The coaching team of the Lions is strengthened by a true national team legend at the ice hockey Olympic tournament held in Italy from February 11 to 22.
The Finnish Ice Hockey Association announced on Monday that Ville Peltonen will replace Jussi Tapola as the Lions’ assistant coach for the Olympic tournament. The Olympic leadership team also includes Tuomo Ruutu, who serves as an assistant coach for the Florida Panthers, and Jarmo Kekäläinen, who acts as the assistant GM to Jere Lehtinen in the Olympic team.
In the coaching team of Antti Pennanen, who is starting his second season as the head coach of the A national team, Mikko Manner, Tapola, and goaltending coach Aki Näykki will also continue. The video coaches are Jukka Varmanen and Samuel Tilkanen, who is joining for the first time. The team manager will continue to be Mika Kortelainen.
The Lions’ season will kick off from November 6 to 9 at Nokia Arena, hosting the opening tournament of the EHT.
