MM forward Veli-Matti Savinainen caused quite a scene during Saturday’s Liiga round when TPS visited Kouvola to face KooKoo.
The six-time Finnish champions lost their cool severely after KooKoo’s 4-1 goal. The veteran forward, who was raging at the referees, ultimately smashed his stick into pieces against the penalty box door, resulting in his ejection from the game.
Savinainen continued to shout at the referees even after they escorted him off the ice. He was penalized a total of 32 minutes (2+10+20) for the incident.
Having transferred from Tappara to TPS for this season, Savinainen has recorded 23 points with 8 goals and 15 assists in 39 games this season.
