TPS was dressed in Pride-themed shirts for Saturday’s match. The shirts were meant to honor equality and community.

TPS forward Veli-Matti Savinainen was the only player on the team who did not want to play in the Pride shirt. He commented on his decision on Instagram after the match.

– I respect all people and believe that everyone should be treated equally. For me, it is primarily about the fact that I do not see Pride ideology as something I want to personally represent, Savinainen writes.

– Many think differently about this, and that is perfectly fine. I also understand very well that Pride is an important issue for many, and I appreciate the work that, for example, TPS does for equality. However, everyone should have the right to their own opinion and conviction.

TPS lost the match against Ilves 1-4.
