Patrik Laine may finally be finding a new team in the NHL, reports Urheilucast host Esko Seppänen.

Laine’s wife Jordan Leigh Laine mentioned a couple of days ago that the couple had visited to meet the forward’s potential new employer. According to Seppänen, that team is the Anaheim Ducks.

– According to the information from the fresh products, Laine quietly met with the Ducks’ management, and the interest is definitely mutual, Seppänen says.

However, according to Seppänen, the Ducks need to resolve one huge contract before hiring Laine.

– Laine’s status will be determined by how the Ducks’ GM Pat Verbeek manages to take care of Cutter Gauthier’s massive extension contract first. So first, Gauthier will be handled, and then right after that, Patrik Laine, Seppänen continues.

Gauthier has until Tuesday to finalize an eight-year extension with the Ducks.

The maximum length for contracts with own players under the new collective agreement coming into effect on Wednesday will be seven years going forward.
