Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen on fire! Selected as the top star in the NHL
Buffalo Sabres continued their strong run in the NHL last night. This time Buffalo defeated the Montreal Canadiens 4-2.
The victory did not come easily. Montreal was in control of the game and won the shots 34-17. Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen’s strong goaltending, however, helped Buffalo turn the game into a win. The Finnish goalie had a save percentage of 94.10 in the game. Luukkonen was named the first star of the match.
Also, Buffalo’s Finnish prospect Konsta Helenius had a strong game. His line was the best in terms of scoring chances for Buffalo, and Helenius recorded an assist on the winning goal.
After 20 games played, Luukkonen’s save percentage is 90.5. Helenius, on the other hand, has scored 1+3=4 points in three NHL games.
With their strong form, Buffalo has taken a solid grip on a playoff spot. The team has 61 points after 50 games played. The Toronto Maple Leafs, chasing a playoff spot, also have 50 games played but only 57 points.
