Two Finnish forwards scored their first goals in the NHL!
Finnish forwards Arttu Hyry and Joakim Kemell both scored their first goals in the NHL early Monday morning Finnish time.
Hyry, 24, scored the only goal for the Dallas Stars as the team lost to the Philadelphia Flyers in overtime 1-2. Hyry scored his goal while shorthanded. He shot beautifully into the top corner after a turnover by the Flyers.
This season, Hyry has played 13 games in the NHL with stats of 1+1. Last season, he played five NHL games, where he recorded one assist.
Kemell, 21, on the other hand, scored the opening goal for the Nashville Predators, but the team suffered a 2-3 loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning. Kemell’s goal was unusual, as he was breaking through, but Erik Cernak took him down. As Kemell fell, the puck slid into the back of the net.
This was also Kemell’s first point in his NHL career. He has played eight NHL games this season, while last season he played two.
