Tre Kronor strengthens with Stanley Cup winner – five NHL players to the World Championships
Tre Kronor receives a strong reinforcement for the ice hockey World Championships. The Swedish national ice hockey team confirmed on Tuesday that Oliver Ekman-Larsson will join the team for the tournament held in Switzerland.
The Toronto Maple Leafs defender brings with him a vast amount of experience. He has already played 1200 games in the NHL. He is a true reliable player for the national team, as the spring World Championships will be the ninth of his career for the 34-year-old defender.
Ekman-Larsson’s trophy cabinet includes two World Championship golds, one silver, and one bronze. Additionally, the veteran defender has won Olympic silver once.
This season, the Swedish defender was in excellent form in the NHL, scoring 39 points with 8 goals and 31 assists in 78 games.
Currently, there are five NHL players in Tre Kronor’s World Championship squad. In addition to Ekman-Larsson, the confirmed players include goalkeeper Arvid Söderblom, defender Albert Johansson, and forwards Simon Holmström and Emil Heineman.
The World Championships will be held in Switzerland from May 15 to 31.
