The misfortune of Patrik Laine, who has been injured for almost the entire season, shows no signs of easing.

The Montreal Canadiens announced on Tuesday that Laine, who has played only five NHL games this season, is suffering from a new lower body injury. Laine was absent from his team’s practices, and his condition is being monitored day by day.

Laine, who had been in full training for a few weeks, has a long and lucrative contract that ends after this season. The Canadiens are believed to be trying to part ways with the Finn before the NHL trade deadline at the beginning of March.
