Transfer public – NHL top draft pick returns to familiar team
Czech forward Jakub Vrana, 29, is moving from the NHL to Europe. He has signed a two-year contract with Swedish SHL team Linköping HC.
Vrana started last season with the Washington Capitals, where he played 26 games with a score of 7+4=11. During the latter part of the season, he represented the Nashville Predators, playing 13 games with a score of 2+1.
The Capitals drafted Vrana in the first round, 13th overall, in 2014. In his NHL career, he has played 406 regular season games (119+104=223) and 38 playoff games (3+5), representing not only the Capitals and Predators but also the Detroit Red Wings and St. Louis Blues. Vrana won the Stanley Cup with the Capitals in 2018.
Linköping is a familiar team for Vrana. Before moving to the NHL, Vrana played in Linköping’s juniors and later on the senior team from 2011 to 2015. In his last SHL season, Vrana finished with 24 points in 44 games (12+12).
