Jere Sallinen is moving to Kiekko-Espoo for the next season, reports Iltalehti.

According to MTV Sports, Jokerit and HIFK were also interested in Sallinen’s services. In the end, Kiekko-Espoo won the competition.

The 35-year-old Sallinen is playing his fifth season in the Swiss league with EHC Biel. This season, the veteran forward has recorded 17 points (7+10) in 33 games. His contract with Biel ends after this season.

Originally from Espoo, Sallinen started his SM-liiga career with Espoo Blues in the 2007–2008 season. In the league, he has also played for HPK and HIFK.

Throughout his career, Sallinen has also played in Sweden with Örebro, in the KHL with Jokerit, and in North America with the Edmonton Oilers’ farm team, the Bakersfield Condors.

With the national team, Sallinen has won World Championship gold in 2019 and 2022. Additionally, he has World Championship silver from 2014 and 2021.

Sallinen is also one of the owners of Kiekko-Espoo’s parent company. His older brother Tomi Sallinen is already playing on the team.
