Toronto Maple Leafs have signed a six-year contract extension with American forward Matthew Knies.
The 22-year-old Knies will earn a hefty total of $46.5 million with his contract. The deal will take up $7.75 million of Maple Leafs’ salary cap space per season.
Knies was the Maple Leafs’ 2nd round pick in the 2021 draft. Last season, the American forward made a real breakthrough in the NHL, scoring an impressive 29 goals and 58 points in 79 games.
