Top-season player World Cup forward: NHL teams on the trail
Swiss forward Theo Rochette, 24, playing in his first World Championship, has attracted interest in the NHL, reports journalist Elliotte Friedman on the 32 Thoughts podcast. According to Friedman, several teams have set their sights on Rochette.
Rochette has scored 3+3 points in nine games during the World Championship. He will play in the final against Finland on Sunday with Switzerland.
For the last three seasons, Rochette has represented Lausanne HC in Switzerland’s top league, where he posted a career-high 22+21=43 points in 46 regular-season games this past season. In the playoffs, Rochette recorded 1+6 points in seven games. Rochette has a contract with Lausanne that runs until 2031, unless an NHL contract is made.
From 2018 to 2023, Rochette played in North America in the junior league QMJHL. There, he won the league championship and the Memorial Cup in his final season.
