The embarrassing wait for Chicago Blackhawks fans finally ends in the night between Tuesday and Wednesday. The team confirmed on Tuesday that captain Connor Bedard, who has recovered from shoulder surgery, will play his first game of the season against the Pittsburgh Penguins.

As of Monday, the doctors’ clearance to play was uncertain, but now Bedard is ready for action.

The Canadian star will immediately lead a very exciting top line. On his wings will be the skilled Russian rookie Roman Kantserov and the team legend Patrick Kane, who has returned to Chicago for this season.

This game will be Bedard’s and Kane’s first together in a Blackhawks jersey. The combination of two young talents and a team legend who has won three Stanley Cups in a Blackhawks jersey raises the expectations for the return game even further.

Bedard will also take on a significant role in special situations right away, as he is expected to be placed directly into Chicago’s top power play alongside Kane.

Bedard participated in his first full-contact practice since his surgery on Sunday and also practiced without restrictions on Monday.
