This detail must be fixed for the Lions – Jussi Tapola: “It has been talked about”
ZÜRICH. The Lions have two crucial matches ahead in the group stage of the World Championships, facing Austria on Sunday and Switzerland on Tuesday.
One of Finland’s few concerns in the tournament has been indiscipline, in other words, silly penalties. Jussi Tapola, a member of the coaching staff, admits that the coaching team has paid attention to this issue.
– That will be decisive. The teams we face from now on will have a good power play. We’ve talked about it, and of course, it’s always important to eliminate unnecessary and extra penalties, Tapola acknowledged the realities after Sunday morning’s practice.
Tapola further states that the Lions have not faced a real test in their first five matches of the tournament.
– Germany was of course a test in its own right. It was the opening game. But we haven’t really been in a situation where we’ve been behind for a long time or had to mentally squeeze out everything we have.
– We’ve quickly taken the lead, which is always different. In that sense, we haven’t been tested in a way that would have caused difficulties and challenges.
The preliminary matches of the World Championships have now been played for the Lions. From now on, every game has a significant stake regarding the playoffs.
– Now this tournament is really culminating. Preferably this way, rather than being in Sweden’s shoes, Tapola remarks about the neighboring country that is on the verge of being eliminated from the quarterfinals.
The Lions’ World Championship campaign continues on Sunday at 21:20 with a match against Austria.
