The superstar’s brother drafted an NHL contract
The Washington Capitals have signed defenseman Cole Hutson to a three-year entry-level contract. The contract is worth $975,000 annually.
Hutson, 19, was the Capitals’ 2nd round pick (#43) in the 2024 draft. He has played 35 games this season with the Boston University team, recording 10+22=32 points. Last season, he scored 48 points in 39 games for the team.
Hutson has won World Championships with the United States U18 and U20 teams. He recorded 3+8=11 points in seven games at the U20 World Championships that concluded in 2025. In last year’s tournament, Hutson had 1+3 points in three games.
Hutson’s older brother is star defenseman Lane Hutson, 22, of the Montreal Canadiens. The brotherly trio also includes two other names. Quinn Hutson, 24, has played four NHL games this season with the Edmonton Oilers, but primarily he has been playing in the minors. Lars Hutson, 17, plays in the USHL for the Muskegon Lumberjacks.
