The star attacker left the Edmonton Oilers – now reveals the reason behind the transfer
Viktor Arvidsson, 32, who represented the Edmonton Oilers in the NHL for just one season, waived the no-trade clause in his contract at the beginning of July, which led to him being traded to the Boston Bruins.
The Swedish star has now revealed the reason why he agreed to switch from the championship favorite to the lower-tier Bruins.
– Edmonton and I thought it was best that this new situation would be the best possible for everyone, Arvidsson tells Hockeysverige.
– Boston is hardworking, defensively strong, and has passionate fans. I am excited to bring more offensive power to their lineup, the 12-season NHL veteran continues.
– We explored different options with Edmonton and felt that the Bruins were a better fit for me. They were interested, so I look forward to this new experience being fun.
The Swede cites the presence of several countrymen on the Bruins, such as Elias Lindholm, Hampus Lindholm, and Fabian Lysell, as one reason for the team’s selection as his new club.
Arvidsson switched from the Oilers to the Kings a year ago, where he flirted with the 60-point mark (59) in his best season 2022-23. Last season with the Oilers, however, was difficult. The forward, who enjoys a four million dollar annual salary, scored 15 goals and 12 assists for 27 points in 67 regular-season games.
