The powerhouse of the Jokers is leaving – the address has now been revealed
The Jokerit team, which has made notable forward signings for the upcoming season, is also parting ways with several players who performed strongly in the Mestis league last season.
The latest departure is the team’s fourth highest scorer from last season, Okko Kangasniemi. Kangasniemi has signed a one-year contract with ECDC Memmingen Indians, who will be promoted to Germany’s second-highest league next season.
– I see myself as an offensive and creative player who enjoys scoring goals, Kangasniemi introduces himself on the German club’s website.
Kangasniemi, 25, played 48 regular-season games in the Mestis last season, with stats of 14+16=30. In the playoffs, the forward scored 9 points in 14 games, with 3 goals and 6 assists.
Kangasniemi has represented SaiPa, Sport, and Ilves in the Liiga. This overseas stint will be the first of its kind for the forward in his career.
