The NHL team drafted the longest player in history – even Zdeno Chara pales in comparison.
The San Jose Sharks made history at the NHL Draft over the weekend by making a selection that has never been seen in the league before.
The Sharks selected Moldovan defenseman Aleksandr Karmanov, 18, in the seventh round, making him the tallest player ever drafted into the NHL.
The towering defenseman is listed at an impressive 216 centimeters tall. That is ten centimeters more than the previous record holders Zdeno Chara and Matt Rempel, who are both 206 centimeters tall.
According to Elite Prospects, Karmanov weighs a hefty 123 kilograms, making him a true giant in terms of mass as well.
The Moldovan has played in North America for two seasons. Last season, he represented the OHL team North Bay Battalion, where he collected two assists in 20 games.
