Finland decided the championship of the World Championship on Sunday when the Lions defeated Switzerland in an exciting final in overtime with a score of 1–0.

Despite the gold celebrations, the award ceremony of the tournament sparked discussion, as most of the individual honors went to players from other countries. The MVP award was taken by Switzerland’s defender Roman Josi, who also claimed the title of the tournament’s best defender.

The best goalkeeper was chosen to be Norway’s Henrik Haukeland, who led his country to a historic bronze position. The top forward was Canada’s Macklin Celebrini.

The all-star lineup included goalkeeper Leonardo Genoni, defenders Roman Josi and Henri Jokiharju, as well as forwards Sven Andrighetto, Macklin Celebrini, and Aleksander Barkov.

However, the selections did not receive unanimous approval. Viaplay’s commentator Antti Mäkinen reacted to the award decisions with strong words during the live broadcast.

– I feel like writing, but I will try to keep my tongue in check. My lord knows my time, Mäkinen commented after seeing the selections.
