The Rauman Lukko’s departing forward brothers Ponthus and Pathrik Westerholm will continue their careers in Norway. According to the Swedish newspaper Expressen, the 34-year-old twins have signed a contract with Vålerenga, one of Norway’s top clubs.

In addition to the league, the Westerholms, who have had long careers in Sweden’s SHL, attracted interest in their home country. According to Expressen, at least Oskarshamn, playing in the country’s second-highest league HockeyAllsvenskan, considered acquiring the duo for the next season but ultimately decided to look for reinforcements elsewhere.

The brothers represented Lukko for the last three seasons. Additionally, the Westerholms had already played for the Rauma club during the 2019-20 season.

Ponthus recorded 12 goals and 11 assists for a total of 23 points in 57 regular-season games last Liiga season. Pathrik finished with 3 goals and 14 assists for a total of 17 points in 45 games.
