The Lions roasted Sweden – Finland’s NHL star lost his temper
The Finnish national ice hockey team had a strong conclusion to their EHT tournament, as Sweden was defeated in Ängelholm with a crushing score of 5–1.
The match started perfectly for Finland, as just 38 seconds into the game, the Lions took the lead. The opening goal was scored by Ville Heinola, with Aleksander Barkov providing the assist. However, Sweden quickly equalized with a goal from Erik Brännström, but after that, the momentum clearly shifted to Finland.
In the second period, Finland increased the pressure and succeeded in scoring again, after which Patrik Puistola took on a decisive role with two goals. He had the chance to complete a hat trick from a penalty shot, but Sweden’s goalkeeper Arvid Söderblom saved the attempt.
As the game progressed, Finland convincingly controlled the play, leaving Sweden with no chances to rally.
In the final moments of the match, emotions also flared up when NHL star Anton Lundell clashed with Sweden’s Jack Berglund. The situation arose from a contact after a face-off, where Berglund hit Lundell in the face. As a result, Lundell reacted strongly, and the situation saw both stick usage and wrestling on the ice. Lundell left for the locker room after the incident.
For Finland, the match was the last preparatory test before the World Championships starting on Friday in Switzerland.
