The Lions have stamped a new competition passport – this man is in!
The Finnish Ice Hockey Association announces that defender Mikael Seppälä’s competition passport has been stamped. Thus, there are now eight stamped defenders in the Finnish team, which is the full number.
– The situation on the forward side is still open. With the confirmation of Mikael Granlund’s arrival, we have one passport that is not stamped, GM Jere Lehtinen says in a statement.
Of the players already named to the Lions team, forward Sami Päivärinta’s competition passport has not yet been stamped.
– We will continue to monitor the end of the second round of the NHL playoffs and only then will we make decisions regarding the last forward, Lehtinen explains.
The Lions will face the United States in their next match at the World Championships on Monday. The puck drops at 17:20.
