The Lions defeated Great Britain – Ville Heinola made the net swing and the drinks flow
The Lions continue with a clean game in the World Championships after five matches. Finland defeated Great Britain 4-0 on Friday evening.
Finland’s opening goal came in the very first minute. Ville Heinola fired a stunning shot into the top corner. Konsta Helenius, playing his first match of the tournament, recorded his first assist right away, and Aleksander Barkov also provided an assist on the goal.
The next goal came in the second period, again from Heinola, again with a beautiful shot. Henri Jokiharju and Lenni Hämeenaho assisted on the goal. Around the halfway mark of the match, Mikko Lehtonen scored his first goal of the tournament. Assists were credited to Aatu Räty and Mikael Granlund.
Heinola promised before the World Championships to provide a round at Kankaanpää’s 38700 Sport Bar for every goal he scored. Thus, in honor of Friday evening, they were able to toast to Heinola’s account twice in Kankaanpää.
In the final period, Finland scored once more. Jokiharju shot after a really long rotation to make it 4-0. Vili Saarijärvi and Jesse Puljujärvi assisted Jokiharju’s goal.
In goal for the Lions, Joonas Korpisalo had to stretch for his shutout only nine times. In goal for Great Britain, Mat Robson recorded 43 saves in the match.
The World Championship tournament continues for the Lions after a day off on Sunday evening. They will face Austria then.
