Mikkelin Jukurit faces KooKoo in the League on Friday with an unprecedented lineup.

The team includes only 14 field players, six of whom have never played in the league. Most of them are surplus players from the U20 juniors, as the team’s top players are preparing for the playoff match in Oulu on Saturday.

The goalkeepers are also inexperienced: neither of the two has played in the League before.

The captain of Jukurit, Jesper Piitulainen, did not hide his disappointment with the situation.

– Everyone who is of any use has been sold. It’s hard to understand, even if one can comprehend the financial reasons. This is really unfair for the players and the captain, Piitulainen lamented to Yle Urheilu.

The club announced earlier this week that Piitulainen will not continue with Jukurit next season. Although the team is 13th in the league, Jukurit still has a theoretical chance for the playoffs.
