The Buffalo Sabres’ Finnish goalie Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen was injured in the previous game and had to leave the match due to a lower body injury.
Sabres’ head coach Lindy Ruff commented on Luukkonen’s situation on Thursday. He stated that Luukkonen is likely to be sidelined for about a week, after which his condition will be reassessed.
– It remains to be seen how this will affect his participation in the Olympics, The Athletic’s reporter Matthew Fairburn writes on X.
The Lions’ opening match in the Olympic tournament is scheduled for February 11, which is less than two weeks away. Alongside Luukkonen, Finland’s goaltending roster includes Juuse Saros and Kevin Lankinen.
Lindy Ruff said Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen will probably miss about a week and the Sabres will evaluate him from there. To be determined how this will impact his availability for the Olympics.
